Nicholas Grunenwald is a 6'1/170 2005 SS/P from Merrill, WI. Grunenwald was one of the revelations of the showcase, a player from Wisconsin who who was one of the top prospects at the showcase, and might be one of the top 2005 high school prospects in Wisconsin. He has an angular and projectable 6'1" body and the type of athleticism that can play any position on the field. Grunenwald has present big league above average speed and good arm strength. His actions at shortstop are a bit unpolished, but it’s easy to see his natural athletic ability, especially on the tough plays. Grunenwald hits out of a slightly closed stance and generates very good bat speed with a nice swing plane that projects some power in the future. Grunenwald also threw a couple of innings, topping out at 83 mph on his tailing fastball and throwing an excellent change up. This kid’s a player! Nicholas is a very good student.
