Nathaniel Bayuk is a 2007 LHP/1B/OF from Xaverian Bros HS in Foxboro, Massachusetts, with a 5'10"/185 pound frame. Nathaniel was named to the Top Prospect Team. On the mound, he pitches from a 3/4 to low 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action. Bayuk has an online delivery with good balance. He moves his 80 mph fastball in and out well and he throws his 69 mph curveball with 1-7 break consistently for strikes. As a left handed hitter, Nathaniel has a no stride approach at the plate with good bat speed. He has a line drive swing plane and a smooth swing from the left side. He showed good athletic actions with good hands at first base. Bayuk is a good student.

Bayuk is a sophomore left handed pitcher from Massachusetts with good potential for improvement if he can do a couple of things over the next few years. The most important thing is for Bayuk to get serious about his conditioning as he already has some softness to him. Bayuk threw 3 innings in Fort Myers and once he discovered the umpire had a wide strike zone, dominated the hitters, striking out 7 out of 9 batters. Bayuk has a long arm stroke in back and a deceptive delivery that makes it difficult for hitters to pick up the ball. Bayuk has a nice in line finish to his delivery and was able to put his 78-80 mph running fastball right where he wanted to repeatedly. He also had a good 69-70 mph curveball. If Bayuk can get stronger, it’s easy to see him gaining velocity and becoming a mid-80’s left hander with command. A lot of that process is going to be up to him.
