Nathan Woods is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'6'', 210 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Xavier. He has a long, lean frame with some present strength. Woods has come on as a pitcher over the past year and has a smooth easy arm action. We've seen 88-89 earlier this spring and he was 85-87 at the pre-draft. Woods curveball has a big 11/7 downer break and his change is a nice pitch at times. Woods strength as a position prospect is his power, he has lift and extension to his swing and good bat acceleration through the ball. He's been on a steady improvement curve on both sides of the ball and there is no reason it should stop now. He should be a good two-way player at the college level and could create some draft interest now.

Nathan Woods is a 2007 RHP/1B/C with a 6'5'', 205 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA, who attends Xavier High School. Woods has an XL frame with a great body that is still projectable. He is lean and will add strength to an already impressive frame. Woods just continues to get better and better both at the plate and on the mound. During this outing he showed a 90 mph fastball with a hammer curveball at times. He has a very simple delivery with balance and he throws downhill easily. He has great upside on the mound. He also showed great raw power to all fields driving the ball with regularity in batting practice and in game action. It looks like he has a longer swing, but he gets good whipping action over the last foot before he makes contact allowing him to drive the ball. Woods is a must follow and is moving up draft lists as well.

Nathan Woods is a 2007 1B/C/P with a 6'5'', 205 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids IA, who attends Xavier HS. He has a very long and athletic farme that's starting to get stronger. Woods had a very good showcase and showed how much he's improved both as a hitter and a pitcher since last spring. Offensively, Wood has a tension free swing that has bat speed and lots of lift and extension out front. He's a timing hitter whose swing can get long but the ball jumps off his bat and he hits long, majestic home runs in batting practice. He swung the bat well in games and showed he could take his power BP approach up against live pitching. Woods has caught frequently and is long actioned for a catcher but handles himself well. He's an agile first baseman who runs very well for a big young man and could undoubtedly play corner outfield if given the opportunity. On the mound, Woods throws from a high 3/4's release point and gets very good downward plane on his pitches. His fastball topped out at 87 mph and he showed nice rotation and a big downer break on a 70 mph curveball. Woods has high ceiling tools at both positions and could develop either way.

Nathan Woods is a 2007 1B/C/P with a 6'5'', 205 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids IA, who attends Xavier HS. Woods has an extra large frame with long limbs and good strength projection. We've seen Woods play a variety of positions in the past but he seems to have settled in on 1B/RHP. On the mound, Woods throws from an extended high 3/4's slot ith a loose easy delivery and good downhill plane to the plate. He does a good job of keeping his 81-84 mph fastball low in the strike zone and gets some tail and sink on it. Woods 73 mph curveball has good biting action and some depth with a 11/5 break. He also threw a couple of change ups. Woods is very projectable and has limited pitching experience but has a high ceiling at the position. Offensively, Woods has a simple load and approach and a long upper cut swing with good bat speed. The ball jumps off his bat hard and he has nice power projection. Woods balance at the plate gives him consistent leverage at contact and he hit very well in games and showed he could get around on inside pitches. He's a good athlete for 6-5 and handled himself well around first base. Woods is a promising athlete who could develop either way at the next level. He is also a good student.

Nathan Woods is a tall and angular 6-5, 200 lb junior third baseman/right handed pitcher from Iowa. He is a good overall athlete for his size and can play many different positions. He shows agility at third base and smooth actions moving to the ball. His throws have good carry across the diamond. Woods has caught frequently in the past but did not at this event. Offensively, Woods has an upper cut swing and is looking to lift the ball. He has an open to closed approach with low hands in his set up. He has shown us good bat speed and the ability to drive the ball as a middle of the order run producer. The challenge at 6-5 will be to keep his swing short as the pitching speeds up and to keep his swing plane level enough to make consistent contact. Woods also took a turn on the mound and topped out at 84 mph. He pitched in the 79-81 mph range from a tall cross the body delivery. His curveball showed some sharpness the harder he threw it. If Woods made some adjustments to get his hips cleared to the plate he could be a consistent mid-80's pitcher in the future with his arm strength. Woods is a good student and is also related to Mike Boddicker.

Nathan Woods is a 2007 3B/1B/C/P from Xavier HS in Cedar Rapids, IA, with a very large and projectable 6'5'', 200 lb. frame. Woods has athletic actions and has played all over the field defensively. He now lists himself as a primary third baseman, but has also played first base, caught and pitched with some regularity. There is no reason he can't play the corner outfield positions as well. Woods is a 7.55 runner with a smooth running stride. He threw 79 mph during infield drills with a long, clean arm action and easy release. He's thrown up to 84 mph on the mound in the past. Woods hits out of a balanced stance at the plate with a no load/short stride approach. He has very good bat speed and showed loft power to all fields. The ball jumped off his bat very well. Woods has a very good upside as he continues to develop his skills to match his impressive physical tools. He is a very good follow. Woods is also a good student.

Nathan Woods is a 2007 3B/1B/C/RHP from Cedar Rapids, IA, with a tall strong frame and good present strength throughout at 6-5, 200 lbs. He hits from a balanced stance and he is short to the ball with a slightly lofted swing plane. He swings hard with very good bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat. He shows light tower power to all fields. Defensively, he shows good arm strength with an easy arm action. He has good hands and a solid glove. He also pitches with a FB at 84 mph. He attacks the zone with aggressive pitching style. His curveball has a nice tight spin. He is a highest-level two-way prospect and a must follow. Nathan is a good student.
