Mickey White is a strong and aggressive 6'1", 215 lb. senior catcher from Michigan who we’ve seen in the past. White doesn’t lack for effort or intensity while on the field and sometimes it appears as if he’s almost trying too hard. The results might be even better if he let the game come to him a bit, especially on offense. White showed a good approach in batting practice, and he stayed behind the ball well and drove it hard to the opposite field. He was overanxious in games, with lots of extra hand action, a very quick weight transfer and an upper cut swing. White has the strength and basic swing fundamentals to be a very good hitter at the next level. White’s intensity serves him better on defense. He’s very good at blocking balls in the dirt, moves quickly and had consistently good pop times and throws. White's academics are excellent and he should be able to get into many of the elite academic schools in the country. Mickey is a Division I catcher who can hit and hit with power.

Mickey White: White is a junior catcher from Michigan with very good strength throughout his body and a tough, hard nosed attitude about him. Without having seen him play in games outdoors, this kid looks like a real player. White generates very good bat speed and looks like he has both power and bat head skills. He ripped an 89 mph fastball during one turn at the plate and was right on it. White also recorded the top bat speed time on Perfect Game’s laser bat speed device. White’s defensive ability also was solid. He shifted quickly and comfortably and did a good job framing pitches. His arm strength measured out at an impressive 77-78 mph on the gun, good under the indoor conditions. We’re definitely going to get a better look at White later on in the year and all the college coaches who recruit out of Michigan should do so, too. Mickey is also a star in the class room.

Mickey White -- White is a strong and solidly built junior catcher from Michigan. He hits from a crouched stance, which seems to be a bit unusual nowadays, and has some back side collapse in his swing. What this gives White is a lofted swing and, given his natural strength and bat speed, some serious power potential. He hit one pop up to shortstop we’re still waiting to see come down. White made good contact towards the middle of the field given his approach and he probably does some real damage with metal in his hands. White’s catching skills are on the raw side and he may end up at first base. His arm action is not conducive to being a high level catcher. The bat plays large! Mickey is an outstanding student.
