Knight is a 5-8, 160 lb catcher from Pennsylvania with good strength for his size. He ran the 60 in 7.45 and threw 73 mph during catching drills. Like many smaller catchers, Knight’s short, quick actions enabled him to post a quick pop time, 1.91. Knight really impressed us with his bat and offensive potential. He has very quick hands and a very, very short path to the ball that enables him to hit the ball deep and with authority. He also shows surprising pop in his bat, hitting the ball out of the park in batting practice and hitting it with authority during games. Knight could develop into a very good hitter at the college level with his current approach and hitting tools. He is a good student, too. Good follow!

Michael Knight is a 2006 catcher from Montoursvile High School in Pennsylvania with a 5'9", 160 lb. frame. He has good athletic actions with very good quickness behind the plate. His feet are quick and he has a quick release that helped him get good pop times with 1.94 being the best. Knight also uses his foot quickness in blocking balls which he does well. He is a very good defensive catcher. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with very good bat speed. Knight has the bat speed. If he gets his load/trigger earlier, his natural bat speed could take over and he could catch up to any fastball. He showed in the showcase game that he can hit the ball with authority when his timing is there. The tools are there for him to be successful at the next level both defensively and offensively. He is also a good student.

Mike is a not so big, but very athletic 06 catcher from Montoursville, PA. He has quick feet with a good set up and presence behind the plate. Mike uses his quickness and a high 3/4 slot to throw an accurate 72mph with a pop time of 1.95 which was the best of the event. At the plate Mike uses a good balanced set up with high hands to create a good swing plane. Mike showed some power potential from the right side with above average HS barrel contact. With some added strength, which we know will come, Mike will be a prospect in 06.

Knight is a sophomore "06" catcher who does not stand tall, at 5 foot 6 and 145 pounds, but he can play the game on a much bigger scale. His 2.09 pop time indicates much of what we saw. Lightening fast footwork and transfers behind the dish. He can get it done and played the game hard. He has plenty of growing to do and we think his defensive abilities make him an asset for any team. He swung the bat and showed suprisingly good pop for his size and we think this 2006 catcher is going to open eyes next year with added size and strength.
