Michael Hodges is a 2008 SS/P/OF from Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount, Virginia, with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame. Defensively he has good hands with smooth actions at shortstop. He moves to the ball well showing good range, especially to his glove side. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a no stride approach and a quiet set-up. Hodges has a balanced swing with some hand strength. He has a line drive swing plane, but he releases his top hand early costing him some strength in his swing. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good mechanics, and consistently throws strikes. He gets running action on his fastball that topped out at 75 mph, and Hodges mixes in a loopy curveball with depth in the zone. He works quickly with good tempo to keep his defense in the game. Hodges is also a very good student.
