2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Rios is a 5-11, 155 lb infielder from New York City with a slender, wiry frame. He ran the 60 in 7.39 on the wet track and threw 76 mph during workouts. Rios showed good range in the field and has quick feet defensively. His arm strength best profiles him at second base. Rios showed some promise with the bat. He has a leg lift trigger and a pivot/rotational style of hitting and shows good hand quickness in getting the bat head into the hitting zone. During batting practice Rios looked for the ball inside and pulled some hard but was more of an all fields hitter against live pitching. Rios had one game when he went 3-3 at the plate and showed good bat head skills at all times. Overall, Rios has nice early order hitter type tools and skills. He is a good student and he can play.
