Matthew Roberts is a 2007 OF/P with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Knoxville TN, who attends South Doyle. Matthew has an athletic body with a good frame. Matthew has solid defensive actions and moves around pretty well in the outfield. He has a sound release with a shorter arm action. At the plate, Matthew starts with his feet shoulder width aparth and hits from a stationary position. He stays balanced through his swing and hits on a line drive swing plane. He attacks the ball well and has bat speed. Matthew hits balls in all parts of the strike zone and hits the ball where it's pitched. Matthew pitches from a 3/4 arm slot and uses a short arm action. He pitches on a good downward plane and stays balanced through his delivery. Matthew throws a solid 1/7 curveball and gets sink on his fastball. Matthew is a very good student.

Roberts is a young left handed hitting sophomore outfielder from Tennessee. He has a medium build and projectable strength. Roberts has a surprisingly quick bat. He hits from an open, crouched approach and does a nice job keeping his swing short and to the ball. Roberts centered up on the ball consistently and showed a bit of pop as well. There’s not much doubt that he’s going to continue to develop as a hitter over the next few years. Roberts projects as a corner outfielder. He ran the 60 in 7.44 and showed 72 mph arm strength with a short, unorthodox arm action from the outfield. Roberts also pitched a couple of effective innings, mixing a sinking 71 mph fastball with a sweeping 58-60 mph curveball. Roberts is a good student.
