Matthew Murray is a 2008 RHP with a 6'4'', 220 lb. frame from Spring City, PA who attends Owen J Roberts HS. He has a big, strong body with power written all over it. Despite his size and strength, Murray's arm action is loose and fast and he gets good extension out front. He throws from a high 3/4's to overhand release point and gets good leverage and angle to the plate on his pitches. Murray does have a tendency to rush his big body out in front of his arm at times, in part because he does have a long and deep arm extension in back. Murray's fastball was 88-92 mph at the showcase with the promise of even more in the future. He threw both a curveball and a slider and had good feel for both pitches and spun them both hard with good breaking action. Murray didn't throw a change up, although we know he has one. Murray has a power body, a power arm action and the making of some power pitches. Follow him closely.

Matthew Murray is a 2008 RHP/1B from Owen J Roberts HS, residing in Spring City, Pennsylvania, with a 6'4"/230 pound frame. Matthew pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action and good arm speed. His fastball has arm side life at 89 mph to go with a good slider at 75 mph. Murray is an aggressive pitcher with good command on the mound. At the plate, he hits from an open stance with a short stride. Matthew has a line drive swing plane with good bat speed and gap power. He has a loose arm from first base at 86 mph. Murray has a solid glove and solid range defensively. He is a very good 2008 prospect.

Matthew pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a balanced and online delivery that is deliberate to the plate. He has good command of his riding fastball at 81 mph with a live arm. Murray has an 1105 breaking curveball with depth and maintains his arm speed with his changeup. He mixes pitches well and has a projectable body and velocity. At the plate, Matthew hits from an upright stance with a balanced approach at the plate and makes consistent solid contact. He has good arm strength from first base and moves well. Murray is a good follow for 2008.
