Anthony Rodriguez is a 2005 shortstop from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, with a 6'1", 170 lb. frame. Defensively, he has good actions with soft hands and a good glove. Rodriguez shows college level arm strength (81IF), and is very accurate with his throws. He is a switch hitter who performs well from both sides of the plate. He has a solid approach and very good bat speed that helps produce good raw power. Rodriguez gets great leverage in his swing with more power from the right side, and more of a line drive type swing from the left side. He hit some hard line drives during the showcase games. Rodriguez is a top level hitter with a projectable body and power potential.
