Matt Hemingway is a 6'1", 200 lb. catcher/first baseman from Alpharetta, Georgia, with good present physical strength. Behind the plate he showed pop time ranges from 2.02-2.11 with a top velocity of a good 78 mph. His times were consistent, and he showed good footwork. His arm slot tends to make his throws tail slightly, but Matt has above average transfers and gets rid of the ball quickly. Matt is a right handed hitter with a narrow stance and good balance in his swing. He has a slight bat wrap in his set up, but works through it and shows good bat speed and extra strong hands. Matt took an impressive batting practice and really hit through the ball well. He projects for some serious power in the future. His strength and solid overall balance of tools project him well at the next level. Matt is a very good student.
