Matt Hays is a 2006 MIF from Ayala HS, residing in Chino Hills, CA, with a 5'11", 165 lb. frame. Hays has a lean, athletic build that is somewhat projectable. From a slightly closed stance he displays ability as a spray hitter and a good contact hitter. He lets the ball travel and does a nice job of staying in the middle of the field. Adding to his offensive abilities, he displays good baserunning instincts. Hays showed some basestealing ability and did a nice job of taking the extra base. He has some bat speed and should develop into a solid gap and doubles type hitter. He gets good plate coverage and his approach should allow him to hit all pitches. On defense Hays sets up to the ball well. His feet are good and he gets them in position to make plays. His arm is best suited for second base. Hays is the type of player that can make things happen on the offensive side of the game.
