Anthony Katchuk is a 2006 1B/RHP/OF from Shorecrest Prep HS in Safety Harbor, FL, with a 6'1", 195 lb. frame. He has a strong build with athletic actions. He carries those actions over to first base where he shows good footwork around the bag with good hands. Offensively he is a right handed hitter that has the tools to be a very good hitter. The ball jumps off his bat on contact and shows present raw power, especially to the pull side. When he learns to shorten things up, he is going to be a very good hitter that should produce runs in the middle of the order at the next level. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot. His fastball topped out at 77 mph with some late life. His changeup had good fade and sink at 69 mph, and he also mixed in a 69 mph curveball with very good rotation. Katchuk shows a feel for pitching, but at the plate is where he will do some damage. He is also a good student.

Anthony Katchuk is a 6'1", 190 lb. outfielder from Safety Harbor, Florida, with good present strength for a 2006. He takes a full cut at the plate and will pull off the ball occasionally with some loft and upper cut in his swing. Katchuk got into one ball during game action at Duke and hit a bomb over the centerfielder’s head that carried close to 400 feet with wood. Katchuk showed good arm strength from the outfield (80 mph in workouts), but wasn’t able to carry that over to the mound, where he threw 76 mph with a labored arm action. One thing that Katchuk will have to work hard on to play at the next level is his overall speed and quickness (8.37/5.18).

Anthony Katchuk is a 2006 corner outfielder with a 6'1", 190 lb. frame from Safety Harbor, FL. He has some present strength that translates into the ability to drive the ball well when he makes solid contact. Too often at this point Katchuk’s swing with wood is long and he has trouble catching up with the real good stuff. We would bet he hits real well with the metal bat he will use in college. Katchuk’s best defensive tool is his excellent arm strength. His arm is loose and easy and he has good throwing fundamentals. Anthony is a good student.
