Mario Duarte is a well built 6'2/192 OF from Tampa, FL. He has some big league tools with his plus outfield arm and 6.8 60 speed. He's a good outfielder who has had a lot of success with the bat. He shows exceptional hitting ability, but will most likely need to make some adjustments in pro or highest level college play. At Tropicana Field he showed an arm bar and was swinging around the ball with a somewhat long swing. He is aggressive and he has proven results so maybe that swing will work for him. He is a very interesting prospect, and in our opinion, would be even more so with a better approach. He is an athlete! He is an excellent student. Mario was selected and attended the PG AFLAC Showcase in Baltimore.

Mario Duarte -- Duarte is a familiar player to the Perfect Game scouts and has been at a number of WWBA events in the past. He’s a live bodied junior outfielder from Miami with very good tools and some projection left in his strong 6'2/180 body. Duarte has strong hands that generate very good bat speed. He jumps out to his front side a bit early, which hurts his rhythm, but he has a nice level swing that’s going to wear out the gaps. Duarte is an excellent defensive outfielder. He runs very well and is a hustling type of player who maximizes his speed offensively and defensively. Durarte’s arm is MLB above average right now; he can really throw the ball. In addition, Duate is an outstanding student. Mario is a highest level all-around prospect. He has a great feel for the game and some Big League tools.

Mario keeps getting better and better each time we see him. That's saying a lot because he was very good the first time we saw him. He has a big strong athletic body with a plus arm from the outfield. He plays hard and has improve his running times since we've seen him last. He can hit, we like his hitting potential. Shows power! Good outfielder who is aggressive. Very good 05 prospect.

Keep an eye on this young "05". He brings a lot to the table. Very strong arm, decent running ability with great instincts. He can swing the bat! Definitely a player to follow for "05".
