Kirkland is a 5-10 junior right handed hitting outfielder from Virginia. He has good strength and the room to add some more. Kirkland hits out of an even, balanced stance with some coiling action and a high back elbow. He showed some bat speed and pop in his bat when he was able to turn on balls in batting practice but tends to drift to balls with his upper body which leaves his hands behind. He is an aggressive hitter who wants to attack fastballs early in the count. Kirkland showed very good carry on his throws from the outfield and ran down some balls well during game action. He was a 7.33 runner in the 60 who looks like a good all around defensive outfielder.
