Lenell McGee is a 2006 infielder from the Chicago area with a live and highly projectable 6'1" body. He’s the type of prospect that the professional scouts notice right away, but that it takes the college coaches a bit longer to warm up to. McGee hits from a tall, narrow stance with a long, smooth swing that generates very good bat speed. There’s much more power in McGee’s swing with a little better finish and extension. Defensively, McGee showed above average body control at shortstop and smooth hands and actions. His arm strength was a bit short in workouts, but was much better in games. McGee is also an easy MLB average runner in the 60, despite only a 7.2 time in Cedar Rapids. McGee pitched an inning in relief, pitching at 81-82 mph with his fastball, and showing some good quality to a 71 mph curveball, and 72 mph change up while striking out two hitters. Overall, McGee is just scratching the surface of what he can do physically, and it will be fun to watch him develop over the next year. Lenell is a good student.

Lenell McGee is a 2006 SS/RHP from South Holland, Illinois, with a 6'2", 170 pound frame and a tall, athletic build. He is a very exciting young infielder with plenty of room to grow. McGee hits from a balanced stance, and has a short, compact swing with plus bat speed. He has a sharp downward swing plain, and sprayed line drives to all fields showing good power at times. Defensively, he has a strong arm across the infield (80 mph) with good accuracy and carry. He has excellent footwork and range, and made very tough plays look easy. He shows smooth and effortless arm action as well. On the mound, he tops out at 83 mph with very good movement and sink. His slider is sharp and hard (73 mph) with late movement. Lenell is young, athletic, and projects in a big way. He is definitely a draft prospect in 2006.
