Kirk Erickson is a 2006 catcher from Santa Rosa HS in Santa Rosa, CA, with a 5'11", 190 lb. frame and a strong mature build. He has a durable catcher's body that will take abuse well. He has present strength and is ideal for behind the plate. Defensively he can handle the ball in the zone well with confident hands and some quickness and agility behind the plate. He has a crisp and short release with good accuracy during the workout and showcase games. At the plate he shows an average base and short stroke to ball. Erickson takes a healthy swing and never gets cheated at the plate. He looks to hit and drive the ball hard. Erickson has good tempo at the plate, and an aggressive manor to his game that seems to want to take charge in the game. He is a good looking player with good catch and throw ability to go with a strong power bat. He is also an outstanding student that should get attention from higher academic programs.
