Kenny Socorro is a 2007 SS/P/2B with a 5'8'', 160 lb. frame from Miami FL, who attends Miami Senior HS. He has a mature body with good present strength, especially in his lower half. Socorro ran the 60 in 7.16 and threw 82 mph during infield drills. He is a very smooth and fundamentally sound defensive player with soft hands, quick transfers and plenty of arm strength. Socorro is very dependable on the routine plays and has the arm strength to make some plays in the hole as well. We've seen Socorro play many times but he swung the bat better than ever at this event. He showed very good bat speed and surprising pop for his size, especially to right centerfield. He does a very nice job of getting his strong lower half into his swing and stays balanced through contact. Socorro also pitched some and showed he could be a servicable pitcher at the next level as well. He gets good running life on a 83-84 mph fastball and has good arm speed. He'll drop down on his release occasionally to get even more movement. His 64 mph curveball could use some improvement. Socorro is also a good student.

Kenny Socorro is a 5'8" 155 pound 2007 shortstop and right handed pitcher from Miami Senior High School in Miami, Florida who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a smaller frame with a solid lower half. Kenny has smooth actions in the field with nice hands and good footwork. He keeps his body under control and showed a strong arm by throwing 77 mph across the infield during the workout. At the plate, Socorro has a quiet set up and good hand strength. He has a line drive swing plane and will go to all fields. He is short to the ball and is a good situational hitter. He is developing some power and should continue to as he gets stronger. Socorro pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short compact arm action who will occasionally drop down a little. He has a quick arm and is a ground ball pitcher with good mechanics. His fastball has good run at 83 mph while his curveball is at 64 mph with tight 11/5 rotation. Kenny is a good young prospect who is also a good student with a 3.2 gpa.

Soccoro is a 5-8 sophomore middle infielder from Miami with developing strength, particularly in his lower half. Soccoro ran the 60 in 7.33 and has quick, short strides which help his range in the infield. He showed very nice arm strength during drills throwing 83 mph across the infield and has polished actions at shortstop. At the plate, Soccoro hits from a balanced stance with good load and a line drive swing plane. He stays back on the ball well and likes to try to drive pitches to the opposite field. More strength will help Soccoro’s offensive game. Soccoro also took the mound for a couple of innings and showed some arm strength along with easy and smooth pitching mechanics. His fastball was 78-81 mph and he threw a 61-63 mph curveball. He is a good student.
