Kelvin Garner is a 2006 right handed pitcher from Carrollton, TX with a huge frame at 6-7, 240 lbs. He has a long, extended loose arm action and stays tall during his deliberate delivery, creating very good plane down to the plate. Garner topped out at 85 mph on his fastball with a 76 mph curveball and a 75 mph change up. He has been injured through the spring and summer and it was evident during his second inning of work that he wasn't healthy yet. This is a young prospect who was throwing in the mid-90's when he was 15 years old. His body has got stronger and slimmer since then and he has retained his very athletic and easy actions. Scouts shouldn't forget about Garner while he works through his growing pains, he's still a very high ceiling pitching prospect.

Kelvin Garner came into the showcase as the top ranked 2006 prospect in the country, but unfortunately was unable to pitch because of a shoulder injury that he has been undergoing therapy for this summer. He’s a mountain of a young man at 6'7", 245 lbs. with a very loose, lanky upper body and a bigger lower half. We look forward to seeing Garner pitch in the near future when he’s healthy.

Garner is a youth baseball player in a Major League body. Entering his sophomore year, Garner has a young '88 birthdate and showed some of the best stuff in the 2006 class. He might be the # 1 pitching prospect right now in that class. He stands 6 foot 4 and weighs 220 pounds with a strong muscular build but shows many young features that still make his ceiling very high. He has long legs and arms and showed his best body coordination once he stepped on the hill. His arm works loose and easy in a 3/4 and sometimes slightly higher than 3/4 slot. It is a good fast and powerful arm action and decelerates with ease. He showed just a fastball and change-up in the games but showed our staff the makings of a mechanically sound breaking ball in the bullpen. The curve is a pitch that he is just now learning but not comfortable using in game situations at this time. His fastball was 85-88 touching 89 mph and that was easy. His change-up was clocked at 74-75 mph and he already knows how and when to throw it. He already has quite a good start and we expect there will be very big things to come out of this special right-hander from Texas. Top Prospect !
