Justin Rivera is a 2006 first baseman from South Neck, New York, with a 5'11", 240 lb. frame. Defensively Rivera shows good footwork around the first base bag, and a good glove with good hands. He is a left handed hitter who has good power to the pull side. Rivera turns well on the inside pitch, but leaves himself vulnerable to the outside pitch. He has some natural loft in his swing that helps his raw power. Rivera makes good contact on the inner half, but needs to keep his front side in longer to handle the outside pitch. He has present hitting tools, he just needs to learn to go the other way with outside pitches. He needs to make sure he controls his body. The potential is there.
