Josh Zeid is a big strong 6'4/214 RHP from New Haven, CT. He has one of the best power arms in the 05 class. He threw consistently 92-93 in Tropicana Field and he has thrown harder than that. He has a very good changeup and a good breaking ball. He will probably end up with a power slider down the road. He really uses his lower body well with a standard 3/4 release and solid well balanced delivery. He has good command of all his pitches and a nice fast fluid arm action. The only thing he could work on is maintaining everything out of the stretch. Josh is a good athlete who can hit and shows power. He is one of the top pitching prospects for the 05 draft and obviously can contribute right away at any college program. He's a good student and Josh was selected to the AFLAC All American Team.

Zeid is a young, extremely projectable right hander who has consistently pitched in the 90’s every time we see him. He has a smooth, quick arm and fairly solid pitching mechanics. He has good command of the strike zone. Zeid was 88-91 mph in Fort Myers with good action on his fastball. Zeid’s best secondary pitch has always been his change up and it was sharp this time at about 80 mph with excellent sinking action. It’s one of the best change ups in the high school ranks regardless of class. Zeid’s curveball showed some signs of improvement and this is the one area that he needs to keep developing. He threw it between 67 and 75 mph and it showed some good spin, especially as his arm started to tire a bit. Josh is a good student and he will be one of the high profile guys in his "05" class.

Zeid is a big “05” RHP who could become a high draft pick. He has MLB average fastball and he shows a good feel for the breaking ball. He throws his breaker with good velocity and he will throw it even better. His changeup also looked very promising. His arm action is a bit sticky, but he gets great leverage and he has plus arm strength. He has no problem throwing 90 mph or better. As in most young pitching prospects, especially the big guys, Zeid has some areas he can improve upon with his mechanics. Bottom line is he’s going to stir up lots of scouting interest with his “special” right arm. We will be seeing him several more times over the next couple years. Josh loves to compete and has that no fear attitude that all Big League pitchers seem to possess.
