Wittkoff is a 5-9 second baseman from Florida who we’ve seen frequently in the past. He was unable to run much at the showcase due to leg muscle soreness. Wittkoff’s best tool is bat. He has good bat speed with a short swing and stays on top of and inside the ball well. Wittkoff has been a productive game hitter who can hit top level pitching. More physical strength will help him develop his gap to gap power. Wittkoff also pitched an inning in relief, touching 80 mph with a big 65 mph curveball. He is a good student as well.

Wittcoff is a 5-9, 155 lb 2006 second baseman from Florida. Josh was unable to run the 60 due to a slight muscle pull, but showed some speed with a 4.55 home to first time. Defensively, Wittcoff is polished with good footwork and is very sound when it comes to the fundamentals. He showed good range in all directions defensively also. Josh showed some arm strength throwing the ball 81 mph across the infield. At the plate, Wittcoff starts from a high hand set and swings with balance. He has a quick compact swing with good bat speed. Wittcoff showed the ability to hit good pitching to all fields. Josh is a very good student.

Josh Wittcoff is a 2006 middle infielder from Tampa, Florida, with a 5'9", 155 lb. frame. Defensively he showed solid actions with soft hands and good range. Wittcoff has solid arm strength for a 2006 infielder with good carry and accuracy. He is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly open stance with bat speed and some developing power. He got on top of a high fastball during one of the showcase games and drove the ball well to left field. Wittcoff has a great understanding of the game, and will continue to develop his skills. He just keeps getting better and better. Josh is a very good student.

Josh Wittcoff is a 2006 middle infielder from Tampa, FL, with a solid, athletic body that appears stronger and heavier than his listed 145 lb. weight. We’ve seen Wittcoff hit frequently in the past and he’s always been a very good game hitter against live pitching. He proved so again in Fort Myers, hitting a number of balls hard, including a triple up the right centerfield gap that he drove well. Wittcoff could improve his hitting with more use of his lower half, but he has strong hands. Defensively, Wittcoff still has plenty of work to do at second base with his footwork and balance and a corner outfield spot might be in his future. His arm strength has improved a lot over the years and he now has a good arm. He shows soft quick hands also. Josh just keeps getting better and batter and who knows when that will stop. Josh is a good student.

Josh Wittcoff -- Wittcoff is a small framed sophomore from Florida who played both infield and outfield for us in Fort Myers. At this point in his development he looks more like a corner outfield candidate. Wittcoff’s primary strength, despite his size, is as a hitter. He takes a strong, aggressive swing from a quiet, balanced stance and really generates some good bat speed through the zone. The ball jumped off Wittcoff’s bat during batting practice and he had 3 nice hits in game situations as well. He doesn’t look the part right now but this young man is a very good hitter and someone to watch as he gets bigger and stronger. He throws fairly well and seems to have a good feel for the game. Josh is a good student..
