Joseph Mercurio is a 2006 catcher/first baseman from Brewster, New York with a strong 6'2"/185 pound frame. A right handed hitter, he has a line drive approach at the plate with excellent bat speed. Mercurio has a good approach at the plate with strength in his swing and good power potential. Joseph has a strong arm behind the plate at 79 mph. He has good quick feet as a catcher with a very good transfer on his throws. Mercurio is a must follow and is also a good student.

Joseph Mercurio is a 2006 catcher/first baseman from Brewster, NY with a solid strong build at 6-2, 185 lbs. He ran the 60 in 7.23, a good time for a catcher. Mercurio has very good arm strength at 79 mph but has a hand waggle on his release that slows down his pop times. He moves well behind the plate and does a good job blocking pitches and works hard on defense. Mercurio hits from an upright stance with busy hands in his load, much like what he does when he's hitting. He has good leverage in his swing and generates good bat speed through the zone. He crushed a bullet double to left center field that showed hi gap to gap power potential. Mercurio should keep improving as he continues to physically mature and gain more strength. He has lots of upside physically. Mercurio is a very good student who has signed with Illinois to play college ball.
