2003 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Escobar is an "04" OF/1B and even pitches some as a lefty. He throws OK and showed nice hands at 1B. He's not fast, but runs the bases fairly well. His best tool by far is the bat. He has a real nice LH swing. He looks good from the start through the ball, but he needs to finish that nice swing a bit better. He has no problem centering on the baseball and has lots of natural hitting ability. If he gets his body in a little better shape he could end up at a high level program. Jose is a good student.
