RHP Jordan Ellis: Ellis is an impressive athlete, with a well cut 6-2, 195 lb. frame, 6.91 speed in the 60 and a good line drive swing at the plate. We’ve heard some very good things about him this spring but didn’t see the velocity we expected from him in Cedar Rapids, as Ellis pitched in the 85-87 mph range. Ellis has a complicated delivery with his lower half, with lots of leg twists and extensions, but his arm works well and quickly with a short, quick arm stroke and good downward plane to the plate. His best pitch was a 74-76 mph curveball that had tight spin and bite to it. Ellis also threw an 80 mph change up. He’s signed with Virginia.

Jordan is an "04" RHP/OF from PA. We have seen him before and recognize he has pro level talent. There's not much he can't do on a baseball field. He has a big league body, throws 90+ from the mound and can really hit. Something new to us was a knuckle ball he threw in the low 70s, it has knockout potential. Jordan is a very good student who has signed with Virginia. He should create some serious draft interest. He's a very talented player and pitcher.

Ellis is an "04" RHP/OF with outstanding 2-way talent. At an athletic, strong 6'2/195 he has that Major League look about him. He's a very good runner, at least MLB average as he ran a 6.9 on a very slow track in Wareham. He has a plus MLB arm from the outfield. At the plate he might have been the best hitting prospect in Wareham. He attacks the ball under control. Excellent bat speed and natural hitting ability. He used his ability and strength to rip balls all over the place in BP. He's quite a hitter! That said, he's just as talented on the mound and that could easily be his future. He threw 88-91 out of a high leg lift delivery. He even threw 90 out of the stretch using the slide step. His heater showed life and he really throws down hill. His mid 70s breaking ball was also very impressive. He threw his change up in the 76 mph range and showed a feel for that as well. Overall an outstanding athletic 2-way player. Should create lots of interest with scouts and colleges. Jordan is a very good student.

The 6-2, 190 lb. Ellis could end up either on the mound or in the field. It’s too close a call after watching him for only three days. A 6.87 runner, Ellis has a strong, powerful swing that enabled him to hit the only home run of the Showcase. In fact, Ellis was only a double short of hitting for the cycle during the third game. His arm strength and power potential make him a prototypical right field prospect and a very good one. On the mound, Ellis topped out at 88 mph with very good arm speed and leverage to the plate and we definitely think there is 90 mph and better there in the future if not already. Ellis threw a 73 mph curveball that occasionally had a short, sharp break to it, plus a 70 mph change that had good sink and deception to it. This kid is very talented with a very good 6'2/195 athletic looking body. He's definitely a highest level college prospect and could be a good draft pick by next June. Jordan is good in the class room as well.
