John Tolisano is a 2007 switch-hitting shortstop, capable of playing all three infield positions. He is home schooled and resides in Sanibel, FL. Tolisano has a compact, strong and athletically proportioned 6'0" 190 lb. frame. One of the premier talents in the nation, he ranked #4 among the 2006 PG National Top 100 position players. From both sides of the plate Tolisano showed his power and ability to make hard barrel contact. He is a middle of the order bat. From the right side he hits from a slightly open stance and hits with rhythm and feel. His swing is easy as he produces plus bat speed and easy power as the ball jumps off his bat. His swing plane is pretty flat and at his best his line drives carry in the gaps, while his mistakes leave the yard. From the left side he is also slightly open and frankly not too different from the right side. He works to keep his hands inside the ball and with his plus hands and hand speed, he produces easy loft type power, particularly to the pull side. On defense Tolisano displays quiet and smooth actions and sets up to the ball very well. He has soft hands and receives the ball well in his glove in a relaxed manner. Tolisano moves to the ball well and has an above average arm, up to 87 mph across the diamond. He releases the ball from a lower slot when he has time. His arm and playmaking abilities appeared better when he had to react rather versus having time to see the play developing. A strong athlete, he ran 4.06 home/1st from the left side and posted 6.81 60 yard time. He will have his pick of colleges to commit to and at this point looks bound for the very upper rounds of the 2007 draft.

John Tolisano is a 2007 SS/IF from Estero HS (home schooled) in Sanibel, FL, with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. There aren't many things he can't do on a baseball field. He has power from both sides of the plate, will hit for average, runs well, smooth defensively in the middle infield, has arm strength, and plays hard. His only partial weakness seems to be his throwing accuracy, but when he makes a great play and doesn't have time to look at the runner, he throws darts to the first baseman's chest. Tolisano has very good footwork with soft hands, and has the range to make every play from the shortstop position. At the plate he has plus bat speed from both sides, and gets great leverage at contact driving the ball. The ball sounds different coming off his bat, just as it does with most top hitters. Tolisano has great upside and has proven that he is one of the best players in the country, regardless of year in school.

John Tolisano is a 2007 shortstop from Sanibel, Florida, with an athletic frame at 6'0", 180 lbs. Tolisano continues to impress with his advanced approach, and his all around feel for the game. He has very good actions defensively with smooth hands, and arm strength (84 mph). He has a great approach at the plate from both sides, and has great hands and rhythm to make adjustments to contact. Tolisano has pro level bat speed with present raw power that will only improve as he continues to develop. He doesn't try to do too much at the plate, and the ball jumps off his bat at contact. He is a smooth runner with great instincts on the bases and in the field. Tolisano is one of the very top 2007 prospects in the country. He does everything very smooth and easy. John is an excellent student.

Tolisano is presently the number one ranked position player in the 2007 class and we’ve seen him play extensively over the last year. We understand that he didn’t play much between the WWBA World Championships in October (where he hit an opening night home run in front of some 300-400 scouts and college coaches) and the National Underclass and concentrated on his conditioning and strength instead. The effort definitely shows. Tolisano blazed a 6.69 in the 60, probably about .30 better than his best previous PG time and has added balanced strength throughout his 6-0 frame. Tolisano’s timing was off a bit at the plate, perhaps the result of his layoff, but the normal bat speed from both sides of the plate was there. When Tolisano gets out of sync at the plate it’s usually because he’s jumping out to his front side to quickly. His defensive actions at shortstop were smooth and easy and he showed good arm strength with little effort in his throws. Very good student.

John Tolisano is a 2007 SS/C from Sanibel, FL. Tolisano had a strong Showcase, especially in the workout section, and solidified his status as perhaps the best hitter in the 2007 class. One thing we were able to see more of this time out was Tolisano’s power from the right side. He has less coil batting right handed and a more balance, power oriented approach. Tolisano hit the ball hard right handed in batting practice and hit a 390’ fly ball to the centerfield warning track off in a game that wasn’t close to being centered on the barrel. Defensively, Tolisano showed smooth actions at shortstop and made some stellar plays up the middle that highlighted his range, balance and flexible arm. Maybe the best part of Tolisano’s package is that as a 2007 graduate we get to watch him play at PG/WWBA events for the next three years.

John Tolisano -- Tolisano is a freshman athlete from Florida who has already established himself as one of the dominant performers in his age group. Tolisano played in a couple of WWBA events this fall as a 1st semester freshman and held his own against players much older than he. He’s a primary shortstop who also catches on occasion. Tolisano’s raw foot speed is probably a bit short way down the road for the middle infield but he always manages to make some outstanding defensive plays because of his extreme athleticism, instincts and strong arm. The thought of him as a left handed hitting catcher is very intriguing. Tolisano’s best tool, though, is his bat. He hits from a wide balanced stance with a great load and coil and above average bat speed. Tolisano’s swing is just sweet to look at in batting practice. He shows a very polished game approach, with the ability to take a lot of pitches and to drive the ball hard both to the opposite field and to right field with power. If this young man doesn’t hit down the road, with the skills and tools he shows now, we would be shocked. Tolisano didn’t run the 60 in Fort Myers because of a minor ankle sprain but did get down to first base in 4.3 on a grounder to second base and has been a 7.2 type runner in the past. Tolisano isn’t going to pitch at the next level but he always seems to get in a few innings at events throwing 80-82 or better. John is an excellent student and joins Main as one of the nation's very top "07s".

John is one of the top 07's in the country. He can flat out play. He has good instincts and actions in the infield and can make all the plays. He has a good athletic body and can hit line drives with occasional power to all fields from both sides of the plate. He also might be a 2 way prospect topping out at 83 with a live fastball. He knows how to pitch and has a good sinking change. He moves the ball around and is tough to hit. Definite big time 07 prospect. A special young talent to watch develop.
