John Peraza: Peraza is a strong bodied 6-1 catcher who reversed his workout and game strengths and came out looking like a good future college player if you take the best of both. Peraza took a strong batting practice, hitting from a spread stance with a good fundamental swing that showed some strength and raw power potential. In games, Peraza didn’t swing at well and was victimized by some off-speed pitches out of the zone. He was probably overanxious like many showcase players. Defensively, Peraza didn’t stand out in the work out but really shined during the games. He showed very good leadership and hustle, worked well with the pitchers and had some very quick game pop times while showing solid average arm strength. He can catch at the DI level.

Peraza is a solidly built young catcher who showed us good polished defensive skills. His arm strength is solid and despite a somewhat unconventional release put up a couple of sub-1.90 pop times. Peraza has a pull type approach at the plate and some good quickness in his bat. He flashes power potential, though he's mostly a line drive type right now. His overall package is definitely DI caliber. John has yet to commit to a college.

Peraza is an "04" catcher from Florida. He has a strong athletic 6'1/180 frame. He is a well toned, good looking athlete who takes conditioning seriously. He has good feet and receives well with an above average arm at 80-81. His POP times were in the 1.97 - 2.06 range with accuracy. Offensively, he has a tendancy to dive and pull off the ball, but his bat speed is good with gap power. His stroke is compact and quick, but the lower half lags. With some mechanical work he can get much better. Definite D1. Very good set up and quiet approach. Quick to the ball with a short stroke. A little late with the lower half , there should be more power there. High level college bat. Excellent DI catching prospect!

Peraza is an "04" Catcher/OF from Florida. He is fairly unknown as a catcher because he played on the same high school team as 1st rounder Jarred Saltalamacchia the past two years. At 6'1/180 he is strong and athletic. Scouts will be surprised by this kids ability. Her threw 2 flat in the rain with great 81 mph velocity. He also popped 2 flat in the game. Shows cat like quickness and outstanding overall receiving ability. His bat has kept him in the hs lineup as an outfielder. Shows excellent bat speed and power potential. Nice short quick stroke. John is a DI/high level Juco catcher with potential pro future.
