John Mincone is a 2007 LHP/1B with a 6'1'', 195 lb. frame from Dix Hills NY, who attends Half Hollow Hills East HS. He has a mature, strong frame that looks like it's durable. He throws from a standard 3/4's arm slot with a loose arm action and good extension out front. Mincone has good balance in his delivery which enables him to throw consistent strikes. Mincone's fastball was 81-84 mph and he maintained his velocity well. He threw a small, tight slider at 75 mph that was effective. His change up was a low 70's split finger that had good tumbling action. Mincone's present skills should enable him to have success at the next level. He is a good student who has signed with James Madison.

Mincone pitches from a 3/4 arm slot and throws with a long arm action. His arm works well and he has arm speed. Mincone uses a controlled delivery and stays online throughout. He uses a 1/4 hip turn at balance point and throws with low effort. He throws a 1/7 breaking ball with tight break and good spin. He throws a heavy fastball with late life down in the zone. At the plate, Mincone swings from a wide stance with high hands. He uses a short load and a rhythm approach to hitting. He maintains good balance through his swing and has good bat speed. He has an uppercut swing path and takes the barrel to the ball well. Defensively, he has good arm strength and moves around the base well at first. He is also a good student.
