Jake Rowell is a 2007 player from Orange, Texas. Rowell had one of the best bats at the entire showcase, and was one of the most projectable players as well. He hits from a slightly open stance with high hands and an easy, coordinated load. Rowell’s left handed swing is smooth and quick, and he showed both the ability to loft the ball out to the alley’s and get his hands around quickly on inside fastballs and pull them down the line. We’d be very surprised if Rowell doesn’t become a very good hitting prospect by the end of his high school years. What position Rowell plays will be determined later. He doesn’t show particular athleticism or tools for catching and will probably end up at first base or a corner outfield position. Rowell is a definite guy to keep on eye on because of his bat, though.
