JW Kilpatrick is a 6'3" 190 pound 2007 outfielder and right handed pitcher from Lake Highland High School in Clermont, Florida. He has a big lean body with good strength. JW gets to the ball very well and has solid arm strength which he shoed by throwing 79 mph from the outfield during the workout. His throws were accurate and had good carry to them. Kilpatrick hits with a wide stance and has a quiet approach with good balance. He has a short swing and stays back very well. He also showed very good gap to gap power. JW pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action which helps him get good run on his fastball at 79 mph. He threw his curveball at 64 mph with good 12/6 rotation. He also threw a split finger fastball with good sink at 67 mph. JW is also a very good student with a 3.7 gpa.

J.W. Kilpatrick -- Kilpatrick is a very young freshman outfielder/first baseman with a very projectable lean 6-1 body. Kilpatrick showed us good bat head skills with some gap power from a no load approach that uses mostly his upper body in the swing. Kilpatrick is a going to be the type who can hit with some power in the future and he’s going to need to start incorporating his lower half into his swing to do that. Kilpatrick showed good arm strength from the outfield and also threw 2 innings, showing a smooth, clean delivery and a 72-75 mph fastball that sometimes tailed and sometimes had some cutting action, along with a 62 mph curveball. JW is a very good student and his baseball skills are going to keep getting better as he fills in his athletic frame.
