Jeremy Vaughn is a 2009 C/2B/P with a 5'7'', 170 lb. frame from Graham, NC who attends Southern Alamance HS. He has a short build with some present strength. Vaughn threw 70 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.03. He tends to pre-load before his throws but had consistent throws and throw mechanics. It looked like Vaughn didn't have much experience catching hard throwers in games as he had trouble receiving high velocity fastballs. Vaughn also played some second base and showed good hands and footwork but was lacking in quickness. Vaughn is a hustling type player who worked hard at his defense. Offensively, Vaughn had a short line drive stroke and was best when pulling the ball. He tended to hit off his heals and had limited lower half turn in his swing. His hand/upper body strength enabled him to make occasional hard contact. Vaughn is an excellent student.
