Rob Stas is a 2009 3B/1B with a 5'10'', 175 lb. frame from Burlington, NC who attends Southern Alamance HS. He has a short build but very good present strength. Stas' tool is his bat. He has a simple hitting approach with a short load and balanced swing. His hands are strong and he attacks the ball with a quick pull oriented swing. He knows how to hit and is hunting pitches on the inside part of the plate that he can drive. Stas drove one pitch one hop off the left field wall in games and consistently put good swings on the ball. Finding a position for him will be a challenge. Stas ran the 60 in 7.41 but showed limited mobility in the field. His arm strength is also below average. His bat plays though and should always give him a shot. Stas is a good student.
