Lean athletic build, room to fill out, low 3/4 arm slot on the mound, good arm speed, loose easy arm action, sweeping 10-4 curveball, fairly tight spin on curveball, good feel for change-up, fills up the zone, advanced feel for pitching, consistent solid contact at the plate, aggressive hitting approach, goes to all fields, good footwork in the field, shows good raw arm strength, moves well, solid student.

Jason Groce is a 2009 RHP/SS/2B with a 5'11'', 145 lb. frame from Graham, NC who attends Southern Alamance HS. He has a slender and lean build with limited present strength. Groce throws from a extended mid 3/4's release point with a whippy arm action and some cross body action on release. His arm is really loose and this pitching style works for him. Groce's fastball was up to 82 mph gets nice running action into right handed hitters and gets on their fists quickly. He had a nice breaking ball compared to most pitchers with this release point, a big breaking 72 mph slider that had some 2 planeness to it. Groce should be very effective with this pitching style when he understands its strengths and deception. Groce is a good overall athlete with some position skills as well. He has clean actions in the infield and runs well. He has a very sound fundamental swing and some growing strength in his hands. Groce took good game swings and showed some bat speed and contact ability. He's a good follow both ways.
