Corey Carma is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'0'', 185 lb. frame from Salinas, CA who attends Salinas HS. He was selected as a Top Prospect at this event and one of the better college pitching prospects in attendance. Carma has an average frame and a strong, lean build. He can really pitch and all his stuff moves. Carma has a long, clean arm action that works easily from a high 3/4 slot. His sneaky fastball was 83-87 mph with good run and sink. Hitters tend to beat his fastball into the ground or get late swings off against it. Carma has feel of two breaking balls and both are quite good. The curveball was 73 mph with tight spin and late 11/5 break, with depth. His slider is similar to the curveball but 76 mph with more lateral movement. Both pitches can be used for outs or for strikes. Carma works quick and competes to the zone. He is confident and efficient with his pitches. There is no reason he can't pitch as a freshman at the D1 level, especially as a reliever. Carma is also solid high school hitter with a line drive swing and some bat speed.
