Michael Kinning is a 2013 RHP/3B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Des Moines, IA who attends Johnston HS. Young athletic build, projects very well physically, potential 2-way prospect with added strength. Well paced delivery, high 3/4's arm slot with good downhill angle to the plate, kicks leg out and gets extended out front. Fastball to 84 mph with occasional sink, tends to drop elbow on curveball and create a hump, throws strikes with CB and tries to mix, rare slider or change up, will throw harder. Right handed hitter with nice swing plane and some bat speed, stays on ball and squares it up well with a fluid swing, sound overall approach. Third base profile defensively, strong throwing arm, good balance with some lateral quickness. Toss up as to best future position. Outstanding student.
