Gus Fernandez is a slender 2005 middle infielder from Odessa, FL, with a whole package of Division I level tools. Once you ignore the fact that Fernandez is not a large guy., you realize that he’s one of the best players on the field. Fernandez is a left handed hitter with excellent hitting mechanics. He has a very good load and a loose, tension free swing with extension and bat speed. The ball jumps off Fernandez’s bat and he’s going to hit for power as well. Defensively, Fernandez has quick feet and soft hands and plenty of arm strength. Fernandez is about an average runner on the pro scale, but makes up for it with his quickness and looked like he was an aggressive base stealer. Gus is a good student with a bright future.
