Gonzalez is a strong 5-9, 180 lb infielder from Miami with a mature body and approach to the game. He ran the 60 in 7.17 on the slow track and threw 79 mph in infield workouts. Gonzalez’ arm works well and is accurate but his actions looked like he profiled best at third base at the next level. Gonzalez has very good hand strength with a bat in his hand and a mature, balanced hitting approach. During BP he showed pull power and a fluid swing. Against live pitching Gonzalez shortened up and was able to hit the ball hard to all fields, including two well hit doubles in the gaps. He looks like the type of hitter who is going to hit with power with a metal bat in his hands. The PG staff felt that Gonzalez was one of the best hitters at the showcase, especially in the power category. He will play college baseball.
