2004 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Martone is a 2006 RHP/1B from Honeoye Falls, NY with a nice 6'1"/170 pound frame. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a long backside, and he has a tendency to show the ball in his delivery. He gets some good tail on his 83 mph fastball and mixes in a 10-4 CB at 69 mph that he throws for strikes. His change-up was 70 mph and showed late tail and sink. He can locate all his pitches well, and he has good command of all of them. Defensively, he showed a good feel around the first base bag and was 76 mph across the infield. As a hitter, he showed an aggressive approach to the strike zone with a high finish. He is definitely a future pitching prospect for the 06 class. Geoff is a good student.
