2005 Northern CA Top Prospect Showcase
Garrett Silva is a 6'0" 180 pound 2006 catcher, third baseman, and right handed pitcher from Sparks, Nevada who attends Reed High School. He has a large frame and build with some room to fill out still. During the workout, he ran a 7.59 60 and showed a quick release and some arm strength by throwing 69 mph to second with a pop time of 2.04 being his best. He is very flexible in his crouch allowing him to block balls and move very easily. Garrett has a good solid base and an athletic durable body to absorb the day to day grind behind the plate. At the plate, Silva has a slight gather with his body and hits with an erect elbow that produces many line drives. He stays slightly open with some good bat speed and strength. He doesn’t use much of a stride if any in his swing. Garrett didn’t pitch due to a sore arm. He is a good student with a 3.61 gpa.
