2004 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Gary Hersey: Hersey is a long limbed and projectable infielder from Florida. He made all the plays at shortstop during the Showcase games and made some nice ones that showed his athletic ability. Hersey’s actions are solid and his arm strength good. At the plate, Hersey hits from a tall stance and generates some torque in his swing when he doesn’t drift forward with his hands. More upper body strength will help him utilize some of the power potential that he has. Hersey also threw 3 innings, showing a 77-80 mph fastball that had some deception and late life to it.
