Michael Smith is a 2009 1B/C/3B with a 6'3'', 230 lb. frame from Brandon, FL who attends Brandon HS. Smith has a big frame with some excellent strength and is solid around the bag at first. His arm works well and he shows arm strength. At the plate he has very good power potential. He has easy power when he is clicking on all cylinders and shows big bat speed. His swing is a little busy at times causing some timing issues, but he can really drive the ball to all fields. The bat needs to be followed closely.
