Gavin Black is a 2009 LHP/1B from Hilton Central HS, residing in Rochester, New York, with a 6'1"/165 pound frame. Gavin pitches from an overhand arm slot with a live arm and good arm speed. He is an aggressive pitcher that hides the ball well. Black throws an 86 mph fastball with late life and his curveball has bite at 64 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup at 65 mph and has three solid pitches. Gavin hits from an upright stance with a controlled approach. He has lift in his swing and makes consistent contact. Black is an excellent student and a solid 2009 prospect.
