James Peterson is a 2002 1B/LHP, OF with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Winterset, IA who attends Winterset. Peterson put on a power display in BP at Veterans Stadium. He has one of the most powerful bats in the country and from the left side he makes for an interesting prospect. There was no question that he has plus power as he sent several HR's well beyond the fence and one even cleared the Diamond Vision scoreboard over 40 feet tall above the 390 mark. Had one good battle in the game fouling off many pitches before driving an away fastball opposite field sky high to the track. He will go as far as his bat takes him.

Peterson's game revolves around power. He attacks the ball and can hit it as hard as anyone in high school baseball. He has a good arm and may even pitch some at Wichita State where he signed early. Then again he could be a draft pick this June,

Peterson is fun to watch swing the bat because he is every bit an attacker at the plate. He looked awesome at this event, in fact he and Clement both put on quite a display. They are two of the best hitting prospects to ever come out of Iowa. He does throw real well from the left side, but that bat should get him drafted in a good position. He has signed with Wichita State.

We've seen Peterson throw as high as 89 and he has a great off speed pitch. Lefties who can do that are in big demand. However his pitching ability pales in comparison to his bat. He is a complete attacker who creates as much bat speed as anyone in the country. He has hit some of the hardest and longest balls we have seen out of a high school kid using a wood bat. If he happens to go good in next years draft it will be because of his bat. He's fun to watch in the batters box!

Peterson hits balls as hard as anyone in high school baseball. He is a legitimate power hitter who is fun to watch swing the bat. He also has a strong arm and even throws high 80s from the mound at times. He's definitely a hitting prospect with a pro future.
