Chamness is an "04" 1B/OF with outstanding ability and a good body. At 6'1/185 he really looks the part. He runs exceptionally well, 6.82 on a slow track in Wareham. His arm is close to MLB average from the outfield. He does throw a bit side armed so his throws run a lot. He's an excellent 1B but in our estimation his tools are way too good for 1B. At the plate he has a nice short quick swing that creates potential plus power. In fact he hit one out in Wareham. The ball gets off his "wood" bat in a big hurry. He's a good athletic player with a lot of natural ability. Eric is a good student.

Chamness had the fastest 60 time at Chapel Hill, a 6.67 on wet turf. He has a solid 6-1, 185 lb frame to add strength to in the future. Chamness has good bat speed, starting his hands from lower than conventional, and he pulled a number of balls hard during BP and against live pitching. It’s not a swing that will loft a lot of balls right now, but Chamness could add more power as he gets older. In the field, Chamness profiles as a centerfielder, although he played mostly right field and first base (?) at the Showcase. He's a very interesting athletic baseball prospect. Run, throw, hit, field are all plus or potential plus tools. All with a good strong baseball body. He needs to be followed closely. Eric is a good student too.
