Defensively, Clark has good arm strength with carry on his throws. He has an accurate arm and puts the ball on the base most of the time. Clark has developing receiving skills and sets up ok behind the plate. He has good defensive tools and should develop into a good defensive catcher. At the plate, Clark starts with a straight stance and steps out as he swings the bat. He does get good extension in his swing which gives him good pop. He has some juice in his bat and has power potential. Clark handles wood well and is aggressive at the plate. Clark pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. He has arm speed and pitches with an extended arm action. Clark uses drop and drive style mechanics and gets arm side run on his fastball. He also throws a 12/6 downer curveball and a change up with armside run and sink. Clark is a good student.

Nolan Clark is a 2009 C OF/1B/P with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Mission Viejo, CA who attends Capistrano Valley HS. He was selected as a Top '09 Prospect at this event. Clark is one of the more talented '09 prospects in Southern California. Everything about him says 'pro potential', especially with the bat in his hands. He looks the part too, with a strong and athletic body that is still rangy with room to fill out and become more physical. Clark has strong hands and consistently made hard barrel contact. His timing was just a hair off but even then it was apparent that Clark has power and is going to develop big power in the future. He is 'hitterish', meaning that he just has that something that indicates he can and will hit. The really exciting thing about Clark is that he is talented but is still in the development stages as hitter and is still a long way from being as good as he will be. Defensively he has a strong arm that plays at all the corner positions and catcher too. His throws tracked well and his transfer is good. Clark is still developing catcher-type defensive skills and it is likely that at some point he will get moved to a corner infield position. On the mound he showed a 85-87 mph fastball and is going to throw harder if he sticks with pitching. Major D1 programs should have him high on their prospect lists because Clark is only scratching the surface of his ability.
