Ridge Hoopii-Haslam is a 2011 with a 5'6'',155 lb. frame from Hilo HI. His school was not listed on his registration form, though he has not yet started high school ('11 grad). Hoopii-Haslam has a small frame and a compact build. He was the youngest player in the event and performed well among his older peers. His defensive ability and arm stood out as his most noticeable tools at this early stage of his development. He does have a quick bat and showed the ability to hit to all fields. Hoopii-Haslam has good hands and though he has a pull approach, he is pretty short to the ball. In any case, he is a young that takes an aggressive swing. In the outfield he may have outperformed all the other players. He takes excellent angles and has a quick release, showing feel not only for fielding and throwing but also for the speed of the game. It is a long way to go for this youngster, but he is starting out with some very good ability and strong fundamentals.
