Evan Fields is a 2006 left handed pitcher from Lompoc, CA with a big strong projectable body at 6-4, 208 lbs. He has very good upper body strength and wide shoulders. Fields throws with an upper body dominant delivery and a high 3/4's arm slot that gives him a nice downward plane to the plate on his fastball. Fields fastball topped out at 88 mph and was very heavy at the plate and hard for batters to lift. Fields lowers his arm slot a bit on his secondary pitches. His 75 mph curveball was sharp at times with a sweeping 2/8 type of break. His 79 mph slider had a shorter break on the same plane. He also threw a nice 78 mph change up. Fields showed good command of all his pitches. Overall, he's a strong bodied left hander who is a bit on the raw side mechanically, with some very good present pitches that should keep on getting better yet. Definitely a high level LHP prospect. Fields has committed to Chico State.

Evan is a 2006 grad from Cabrillo High School in the Lompac California area. He has a broad strong body at 6'4" 208 lbs, well proportioned with long arms and legs. Evan has a loose, easy delivery that hides the ball well to give hitters a late look at the baseball. We've seen Him frequently before and though he looked good, we've seen him much better. Evan's fastball was 84 mph and he has the potential to throw much harder consistently. He showed a sharp breaking ball at 70 mph that will be his out pitch in the future and it will make left hand hitter's lives miserable. Evan throws a split style change up at 71 mph, too. If he wasn't a top level pitching prospect, Evan would get plenty of looks as a first base prospect. His natural strength enables him to create very good bat speed, with a big load and aggressive, power oriented swing. He also shows very good defensive ability around the bag. We expect Evan to to be a top level DI prospect by his senior season who the professional scouts will also take a strong interest in. He's a very good big lefty.

Evan Fields is a 2006 left handed pitcher/first baseman from Lompoc, California, with a large frame and athletic build with present strength. Fields swings the bat with his hands high, with a good base, and stands tall towards contact. He projects to be a middle of the order type bat that should generate offensive numbers. Fields is a big kid with some serious upside to his ability as a left handed pitcher. He knows what he is doing, and has a good demeanor on the mound. Fields has very good deception in his delivery, and hitters rarely get a good look at him. He throws everything over for a strike, and is a good competitor. Fields maintains his velocity and command throughout the game. He has another year to go, and should get big Division 1 interest when it is his time. Excellent lefty with a 6"4 body, a bit more velocity and MLB scouts will be all over him!
