Eric Sanchez is a 2008 right hand hitting middle infielder from Santiago HS, residing in Corona, CA. He has a 5'11" 155 lb. frame and a wiry, lithe, average athletic body type. Sanchez has a chance to hit in the college game. He displayed good balance throughout his swing and he has an aggressive nature. His hands work quite well and he showed that he has enough bat speed to hit at the college level. He consistently stayed inside the ball and sprayed line drives to all fields. His approach is pretty simple and should allow him to be a hitter who hits for fairly consistent average. Some gap power could develop as he continues to physically develop. In the field Sanchez is also has solid ability. He has quiet and efficient movements. His hands and feet are good as well. Sanchez's arm strength is suited best to second base, which is fine because he showed that he understands the proper angles to take to the ball at that position. He was particularly good going up the middle to his backhand side when at second base. Not a flashy or toolsy player, Sanchez simply is well-rounded and is a good follow for many D1 programs.
