Kalina is a 6 foot 1 inch, 190 pound third basemen with leadoff speed and corner infield power. He features a beautiful swing with good bat speed. He faced some very good pitchers and showed that he can put the ball in play hard to all fields with wood. He also showed that he can stay on the breaking ball and drive it. There is no question that he can really hit the ball hard with wood and he shows a strong body that projects even more power down the road. He has solid hitting mechanics and quick hands to the ball, controlling a wood bat easily. If his defensive ability at third base play well he could be a serious draft prospect. In any case, he is an interesting prospect that should be an immediate impact player at Northwestern University where he signed.
