Jacob Butcher is a 2010 2B/OF/P with a 5'4", 130 lb frame from Houston, TX who attends Stratford HS. Jacob has a short small build and really needs to add some strength to his build. At the plate Jacob has solid swing fundamentals with a short compact swing and a line-drive swing plane. He is aggressive at the plate, but really lacks the strength to hit with wood at this time. In the field Jacob gets after the ball well with quality footwork. He has good hands and is a high energy player that needs to stay at second base till his arm gets a little stronger. On the mound Jacob has good mechanics and really pounds the strike zone with nice life on his fastball. He shows a quality change-up and really competes on the mound. Jacob is a good student that could attract the attention of a few smaller colleges.
